We are thrilled to announce that Universidad Popular will host our annual Celebrando Liderazgo (Celebrating Leadership) event on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in San Marcos. We invite you to support this momentous event and participate in a celebration of our community.

This inspiring evening honors the remarkable achievements of our students who have committed themselves to learning U.S. history, government, and civic participation through our citizenship and civics classes. This is a year-round program offering civics education, legal resources, language development, tutoring, and mentorship to become civically engaged in community affairs. While the program is free and open to the community, many students have completed a long journey beginning with learning history and how government works, nurturing English proficiency, successfully completing naturalization interviews and taking the oath ceremony, registering to vote, and embracing their role as active participants in our democracy. This journey embodies the spirit of dedication, determination, and resilience that fuels hope and dreams. 

At Celebrando Liderazgo event, we will:

• Celebrate 40+ new U.S. citizens who represent the hope and future of our democracy.
• Recognize community leaders who serve and uplift families across North County.
• Highlight the collective power of our organization’s growing civic engagement work.

This event is not only a celebration, but also the culmination of a year-long investment in nurturing people and a testament to the power of education, community, and participation in shaping a more inclusive democracy. Over the course of the past 10 years, we have had 4,000+ participate in our civics education and leadership programs and become vital voices of their community.
