About Alianza Comunitaria
For over 8 years, the Alianza Comunitaria has been responding to reports of checkpoints, rumors of raids and other law enforcement operations that target migrant communities of north San Diego county.
Throughout this time, we've developed a system to confirm, document and alert our communities of the presence of these law enforcement operations. The Alianza Comunitaria has also been active during fire storms, alerting the community about the status of fires nearest to them, where they can find shelter and monitoring the shelters to make sure that migra isn't present.
Currently, our alert system is reaches 30,000 people in 6 cities and surrounding communities of North San Diego County through text messages, Facebook and Instagram. When these alerts are shared by our followers, our reach doubles and triples.
Just recently, our Alianza Confirmation Team (A.C.T.) participated in a coordinated action to patrol these 6 communities at the same time to lookout for rumored immigration raids. Our patrol efforts helped dispel these rumors and provided the community with first hand accounts about the status of neighborhoods.
Our work is based on volunteer efforts, mutual support and direct support from the community.
We are not a non-profit organization and we do not depend on grants to carry out our work, although we always welcome any support we can get! We believe that we have developed a model that can be reproduced in any community where there are committed and dedicated individuals or groups.
In this moment when our communities are under attack, we need organization and swift mobilization to respond and defend our communities!
Fight Back! Attend the Rapid Response Organizing Conference
We've heard from many about the need for this type of alert system in their communities and we want to offer our experience and skills to help communities develop rapid response systems of their own.
Please join us at our Rapid Response Organizing Conference on Saturday, October 21st from 10 am - 3 pm in Vista, California at the Universidad Popular Centro to receive training on developing alert systems in your cities and neighborhoods.
At the conference you will learn:
