Food Distribution

Universidad Popular partners with Feeding San Diego, to provide a trusted source of nourishment for farmworkers and other community members living in the rural area of Pauma Valley and nearby reservations through its weekly food distribution program. The Pauma Valley food distribution happens every Tuesday from 12 to 1 PM, and an average of 350 families receive essential groceries through an efficient drive-thru system. Started 15 years ago to address urgent food access needs, this initiative continues to ensure that farmworkers and their families have reliable access to food, alleviating food insecurity in a region where fresh and nutritious groceries are often difficult to obtain. 

The program is powered by the dedication of our volunteers, most of whom also live in the area and understand the challenges their families and neighbors face. Their commitment goes beyond distributing food, they build community connections and foster a spirit of mutual support. Through this long-standing effort, Universidad Popular continues to make a meaningful impact, ensuring that no family is left without the resources they need to thrive.

Distribución de Alimentos

Universidad Popular se asocia con Feeding San Diego para brindar una fuente confiable de alimento a los trabajadores agrícolas y otros miembros de la comunidad que viven en la zona rural de Pauma Valley y reservas cercanas a través de su programa semanal de distribución de alimentos. La distribución de alimentos en Pauma Valley se realiza todos los martes de 12:00pm a 1:00pm, y un promedio de 350 familias reciben alimentos esenciales a través de un eficiente sistema de autoservicio. Iniciada hace 15 años para abordar las necesidades urgentes de acceso a alimentos, esta iniciativa continúa garantizando que los trabajadores agrícolas y sus familias tengan acceso confiable a alimentos, aliviando la inseguridad alimentaria en una región donde es difícil obtener alimentos frescos y nutritivos.

El programa se sustenta gracias a la dedicación de nuestros voluntarios, la mayoría de los cuales viven en la zona y comprenden los desafíos que enfrentan sus familias y vecinos. Su compromiso va más allá de distribuir alimentos; también construyen vínculos comunitarios y fomentan un espíritu de apoyo mutuo.
